So, just a few hours ago, I just got done watching one of my new favorite movies. It's called True Romance and it was directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino! Can you imagine? Quentin Tarantino's image of a romance film??? Freakin' amazing! I loved every moment (even the sad parts). I had watched it with my friends Timmy and Stacy and we had a blast! So, just in time for Valentine's Day, here's my favorite movie of the month, True Romance (the best scene from the movie):
Listening to : I'm Waking Up to Us - Belle & Sebastian
Heya! back for more lovin! hehe. So here are some great songs/"couple bands" that I admire. You can really tell by their music/lyrics that the feelings are true. First off, Mates of State - one of the best "couple bands" I know of! I can only imagine how well they get along and inspire each other with music like this:
Mates of State - Get Better
What can I say about Death Cab for Cutie? Just that they have some of the greatest modern day love songs in the world. This one is my favorite because the lyrics (and the music video that goes along with it) seem so natural and poetically realistic:
Death Cab for Cutie - Movie Script Ending
Okay back to something similar to Death Cab...sort of. "Such Great Heights" is such an amazing love song for the very same reasons I feel "Movie Script Ending" is a well. The Postal Service introduced another one of the greatest love songs in the modern day. I must admit though that Iron & Wine's soft, lullaby version is far more romantic.
So, I know it sounds sappy but I love Valentine's Day. It might have been invented for commercial purposes but I still adore the fact that there is an actual day celebrating love. I've never felt out of place on Valentine's Day as a single lady because love doesn't have to come from a significant other. There's the love of a parent, a sibling and of course the love of friendship. So in honor of Valentine's Day, my posts (unless stated otherwise) will be focused on the concepts of love until the day after V-Day. To kick it off, I've decided to post my favorite scenes from different movies (because that's what I do best :P):
Okay, so the video doesn't come in very well but I still wanted to post it because I've always loved this scene. Some might think it's kind of goofy and uninteresting but I actually think it's quite lovely! *don't laugh at me*! The innocence expressed in this scene (no matter how dorky it may be) is one of the best lines in the movie and one of the best things a guy could ever say to a girl:
I feel that the best scene from Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain is when she is in the haunted house and Nino (dressed as the skeleton) breathes on her neck. SO HOTT. BUT I could not find that video, so I will show you my second favorite scene. You want Amélie so badly to talk to Nino but she doesn't gain enough courage! *sadness* Still, she notices how he drinks his coffee and other cute quirks while she stands behind him. Kawaii!
This scene breaks my heart every time I watch it. I've always thought that this was one of the best "couple" scenes ever in a film. Watch and enjoy <3
"Nothing makes sense anymore"...that's what India told me today during dinner. I responded with: "You're walking along, minding your own business and start to think life is going great, a little too great and then you start to wonder...when is karma going to catch up with me? and then WHAM! POW! Karma smacks you in the face like the bully it is!" The recent tragedy in Haiti and other social drama (crazy stuff that almost literally blew my mind away...) were talked about over dinner tonight. It was a little depressing and a lot of weeeiirrrddd but most certainly awakening. To all of the emo kids with lives that aren't as bad as they might think or even hope they are, watch the friggin' news or better yet, look at the poor souls around you and grow up. Be as happy as you can be, be as kind as you can be, live, laugh and love (even your enemies). Life's a weeee bit too short for ignorance. Okay, now that I've ranted...here's some old time sugar that me and my sister laugh XD Love & Peace.
So because my family has a life and I don't (well, while I'm on break at least...) I've been living on esty and mod.cloth all...day...long. I found some amazing stuff on mod.cloth (always) but even more lovely things on etsy - mostly various tea cosies by this one artist named Melsey!!! Here's some eye candy cosies for you (^o^):
So I have been really busy this winters break doing what any college student does: Sleeping, reading, working and watching movies (not always in that particular order, however). I decided to come back to the world of blogging and up date you on things that I love :)
1. Courtney Love's old band, Hole. I got their CD "Live Through This" for Christmas after only hearing their last CD "Celebrity Skin" for 7 years since I first bought it. Finally, at 21 I decided to try out their other CDs, and so far, I love them. Hole is like the only angst music I listen to and get this, sometimes I put Hole on to fall asleep during long car rides. "Live Through This" is mostly about girls and their body image which is a topic that never seems to go away in the female world. So, If you're looking for 90's rock with girl-power (or pain) Hole is my love. Here's my favorite song from "Live Through This":
2. Slyvia Plath's Unabridged Journals. I cannot tell you how much I love this woman. I was crying last night while reading her journal entries from college (and all she was describing was how much her friend "Mary" meant to her)! Her poems, her life, her death are all tragically beautiful. If you've never read Sylvia Plath then I suggest you do. <3
3. NCIS on CBS!
NEW OBSESSION! This show is way better than ANY other Criminal Investigation show on cable. It has such rich characters and the cast work so well together! Love Love Love!
4. Sarah Lawrence in Yonkers, New York. My dream school. I want to go here more than life. Let me just list a few of the amazing perks this graduate (and under grad) school has to offer: A Tea House right on campus (money is used for scholarships for in coming students), a playground (yes, this COLLEGE has its own playground), Shanna would love this one...they have a "sitting" room filled with huge pillows, bean-bag chairs and regular chairs as well. They have a Griffin as their mascot (how cool is that!?), 3 theatres (including an "experimental theatre"), insane connections to New York and other cities rich with theatre and they have the sweetest staff ever. WANT.
5. Reese's Peanut Butter BIG Cups I know they've been out for awhile...but it's still one of the best inventions since...ever.
My favorite movie, book and song of the month is up! Check it out!
Today was a pleasent first day back from Tofurkey break. The cafe food wasn't totally horrible, I randomly got paid $20, I talked a lot in class and I found out that writing my 15 page paper beofre next Tuesday may not be as hard as it sounds. Michael came in my room and made me hot cocoa and I treated myself to some lovely nail polish that was on sale. So far, so good.
Just thought I would start something new...I thought that maybe, to keep up with my blog, things that I find lovely. I know a lot of other bloggers do this and that it's nothing original, but it will be a good way for me to not leave my blog behind months at a time :P so, I will begin my new posts entitled: I Hate Mondays (but I Love You!).
1. Raf TMNT beanie! sold at Hott Topic. I haven't shopped here in, like, 2 years. Hott Topic is finally coming out with cool stuff again!
2. "Look if you didnt have that guy you'd be fucking done allright?"
Salut! I am a recent graduate with a BA in English and minor in Theatre. I enjoy drinking tea, reading and watching the classics, meditation and spending time with my family and friends. I often update my favorite book, movie, and song on the right side panel and post my adventures whenever possible! Merci!
