Lady. Style. Glory.

Listening to: Adele - Hometown Glory

Just looking at some female, singer/songwriters and poets that are inspiring to me. Their style, and their feminist qualities in their music and poetry and their struggle to become better people...without being cliche (I could mention some contemporary artists but I won't). Since men and other human relationships are what inspire me in my poetry, I appreciate others who do the same. Here are a few:

The Classic: Sylvia Plath

"Out of the ash I rise with my red hair. And I eat men like air."
Poem: Lady Lazarus

The Hippie: Kimya Dawson

"...I just wanted to prove wrong the people in my head."

The Desperate Housewife: Anne Sexton

"Like two dolls in a museum case, never bothered by diapers or dust..."
Poem: Cinderella

The Angry Beauty: Kate Nash

"I'd rather be with your friends, mate, 'cause they are much fitter."

The Twin Sisters: Tegan and Sara

"Make a map of what you see, direct pain effectively..."

The Basket Cases: CocoRosie

"Like an empty restaurant filled with perfume and balloons, I sit and entertain the bizarre guests of my soul..."
Song: Animals

The Foreigner: Bjork

"I'm a fountain of blood in the shape of a girl..."

The Hot Mess: Courtney Love

"I'm overrated, desecrated, still somehow illuminated..."

Ohai I'm back and stuff! and that's not an April Fools joke...

Listening to Lykke Li - Love Out of Lust

Ohai! So you may know me as "Gracie" the friend/sister/cousin/daughter/grand-daughter/niece who used to have a blog but she discontinued it because, well, she honestly didn't think anyone cared anymore. And why would you? My life has been pretty much the same thing everyday...no really...the same thing. Although my life at Walt Disney World is quite an adventurous one filled with Magic, Memories and Meanies (;P) the experiences that I have with guests or friends and co-workers has been the same thing (or if something new does happen, it's not very interesting to someone else who doesn't even know these people). So. that's why I gave up on my blog. There was nothing I couldn't tell anyone that facebook couldn't let them know with 50 words or less.

BUT!!!!!!

I leave Disney May 10th. Three days early. I'll probably be taking a Jet Blue flight outta the Sunshine State with my grandparents sitting on either side of me, arm in arm, and family friend Mr. Kahrs flying said Jet Blue plane with emotional jazz music, most likely sung by Edith Piaf or Eartha Kitt, playing in the background (in an ideal movie-like world). I will then be back home, sun kissed and salty nosed from the sweat and suntan lotion; a year without real snow in my life (I say real because I certainly got my fair share of soapy, magic Disney snow for almost 2 months). Everyone will want to know how it went and I will tell them what everyone else has told their friends and family, "It was amazing! I met some of the most amazing people ever! I have friends all over the world now! It had its tough moments but I grew a lot from it and miss the experience already! I suggest this program to everyone who loves Disney!" All of that will be true. So true. However, at the same time I will be glad that this chapter in my life will be over. As singer/songwriter Kimya Dawson said "If I stay in one place I lose my mind." That's exactly how I am. To some that might seem very ADD, and maybe it is, but that's how I am. I need to travel, I need to meet new people all of the time, I need to explore, I need to be creative and I need to learn and learn and learn some more.

Moving to New York City and attending the Stella Adler Studio of Acting will be amazing. It will be tough, dangerous, fun and new. I am excited to for this new chapter! Living with Mikey and possibly Tony will be so much fun! It will be a great living experience! I am also making some new food choices in my life:

This is the first time I am officially announcing it (not that it's a big deal or anything...but I'm pretty excited about it :D) but I am attempting to become a vegan. I grew up being a vegetarian my whole life (not once having meat everrr). Recently though, I have been seeing a lot of articles in magazines about veganism quite possibly due to the fact that recent Oscar winner and soon-to-be Mommy, Natalie Portman, is a vegan. I figured it would be a lovely food adventure! I was never one to cook...in fact I hate cooking...but have I ever tried it? Well, not really...so I can't really hate something that I've never really tried. I disapprove that I'm like that. So, I figured that by being vegan, it will help me learn how to cook and experiment with food which is something that I would really like to learn. I also want to be healthier. Because I don't eat meat, I rely on dairy for the fat cravings that Americans so stupidly have for some reason. That's not good. By giving up dairy, I will be eating healthier and making better food choices when I go out to eat. That's something that I'm okay with. One thing that always bothered me about people was that whenever I told them that I was vegetarian they would look at me and say "I love meat, I would never be able to give it up," instead of saying "I could give up meat, but I chose not to." To me, that just sounds like they are belittling themselves. Of course you can give it up! Your will power is stronger than that! You just don't want to! And that's okay too! :) I used to say that about dairy, "I could never be vegan. I love cheese and milk too much." I don't want food to rule me like that. So, by becoming vegan, I am also testing my will power :)

Whoa...yeah, I am done talking now. I am glad to be back guys! Love and Peace! <3

hey there cutie!

A Bunch of Stuff is a Happening!

Me and my roomies got a Christmas tree today at the Dollar Tree! It was only $25! wow!! We put up some cute lights and a star that changes colors! yay! While we put the Christmas tree up we at some of my Mommy's Thanksgiving cookies and listened to Dean Martin's Christmas album. It was a good time.

BUT earlier today my friends Shayla, Dakotah, Amanda, Ashley and I went to Disney auditions. Only Ashley made it to the final round. She is hopefully going to get a call soon! I really hope that she makes it into the Entertainment department here at Disney! That would be so cool!

Now for a little story:

Hello...my name is Roberto. I am a Florida lizard. I decided one day that it was too cool outside for me so I decided that I should sneak into Vista Way apartment 3502. I heard that my girl-friend Jessica had been over once before so I thought that it would be a good idea. When I got there I chilled near the window of the living room for goodness know how long! The girls were at the apartment all day...none of them noticed that I was there until Karalyn squealed! She caught me on the window sill...how much time went by I am not sure but what I got out of the whole ordeal was that one of the roommates wanted to kill me by throwing some bleach on me! First of all...that would not have worked (not at first) it would have made my scales burn then make me want to run around. Anway...the other three roomies decided that catching me would be the best bet. After getting a box and a bucket and after Gracie put a bag over her hand they made their move...but I was FAST!! I dodged the bucket and the box and jumped from the window sill to the floor but I wasn't fast enough...Gracie pounced on me like a lion catching its prey with her hands, ran out the door and then threw me outside into the bushes. After landing right next to my girl-friend Jessica we huddled together the rest of the night and planned our next invasion of 3502. THE END.

Nice Work, Bone Daddy - My Life in Halloweens

Watching: The Nightmare Before Christmas

Happy Halloween-a-ween!

I have noticed that most of my Halloweens (Halloween being my 2nd favorite holiday) have been different since I went to college:

1.) From high-school up until Freshman year of college I had been trick-or-treating with my sisters, cousins and THEIR friends (because mine in high-school were apparently too cool to get free candy...what what? :P) In those days I was a Bunny (age 3), Dorothy (various years), a Werewolf (age 10), Kagome from Inu-Yasha (age 16), and a random snake monster guy...(age 12) and a Witch (one of those years), Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas...and a bunch of other things that I can't remember :P

2.) Freshman year of college I trick-or-treated as Groucho Marx but it was kind of lame for various reasons...one being that students from the neighboring high-school would play pranks on the college students and vice-versa. That's when I decided that trick-or-treating was done for me.

3.) Sophomore year of college I worked as a Resident Adviser and always worked on Wednesdays. Well, Halloween was on a Wednesday that night...I will never forget. That was the first time in my whole life that I was not able to celebrate Halloween ON Halloween night. Still, I dressed up as the Bride of Frankenstein, and I handed out candy at my desk and I dealt with puking freshmen. That night I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Creature from the Black Lagoon with my then boy-friend who came to visit me that night.

4.) Junior year of college I was studying in England for a few months and we celebrated Halloween in good 'ol Canterbury, England. My costume was last minute but clever...I was a Zombie British school-girl. We pre-gamed at our apartments then we walked to the Jolly Sailor pub and drank snake bites, ate candy and danced on tables. That was a great Halloween fo sho ;)

5.) Senior year of college was AMAZING. My good friend, Kate, came to visit for a whole week and we watched scary movies to the point of a snuggle fest every night for fear of being stabbed to death by psycho, goblin Asians with needles... O_o and other scary things... Did I mention that we slept with my Halloween lights on all night too? We also performed The Rocky Horror Show at my college (I played Janet Weiss) and on Halloween night we went to Albert's to sing and dance karaoke. I was dressed as Stephen King's Carrie.

6.) My sister India and I were able to dress up and go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom and trick-or-treat, eat junk food, scare small children and watch the fireworks, parade and skanky Villians Show. That was an amazing bonding moment for me and my sister that we both will never forget. Now this year for Halloween I will be working again but at least I will be at the Magic Kingdom working the Halloween parades. It will be interesting because I will be seeing all kinds of amazing costumes! yay! and who knows what could happen the whole night...having a different Halloween every year is important I think...if you keep it the same then you'll get bored with it. So, I am glad mine have been different these past few years. Oh yes...and I was a werewolf ;)

HAPPY ALL HALLOW'S EVE!!
